Toward better mutual understanding and peace

The author’s experiences give us a good basis for this

From the title, I thought the book is about treatments or therapies. But the story is better summarized by its subtitle (in Japanese) “A memoir of Iraq by an American hypnotist”. According to the author, the Iraqi people were very kind, polite, warm and friendly, while in the U.S. he saw many reports which were so negative about Iraq, creating bad images of Iraq as a dangerous and violent country. This was the reason he visited many places in Iraq, not only historical heritages but also the tragic site bombed by U.S. errant attacks, to see and feel by himself what was the truth that he can rely on. I have no idea if people in the U.S. still hold the same view toward Iraq, but it would be nice if we can move toward better mutual understanding and peace. I think the author’s experiences give us a good basis for this.

Thank you for the comment. As you mentioned, this story tells us it is important to see and think by ourselves rather than blindly believe the media. I hope, too, that this book will help us move toward better mutual understanding and peace.
